Show Notes

The world around us is currently enveloped in innovation. Everyday modern technologies, medical advancements, and improvements are being developed at a rapid pace. The individuals behind these innovations are undoubtedly creative likely because they were taught and actively encouraged to approach problems with their different perspectives How can educators ensure that they are helping their students develop this creative mindset?

Today, Sara Hutchinson and I are joined with Lene Jensby Lange, an educational consultant from Denmark, to continue our conversation surrounding 21st-century  skills by taking a close look at creativity and how teachers can stimulate creative, innovative thinking in the classroom.

What to Listen for:

  • What is creativity and why is it an important skill for students to develop?
  • What are some elements of creative thinking?
  • How do creativity and collaboration complement one another?
  • How can educators help students to develop their creativity and imagination?
  • Why is it important for educators to develop creativity within themselves?
  • What are some ways that educators can help to build a school culture that is focused on creativity?

Creativity is a key skill that employers are looking for in their employees. Our world will also need new, creative thinkers in order to solve the problems of tomorrow. Our hope is that listeners will begin to analyze the way in which they approach and develop creative thinking in their classrooms in an effort to prepare our students for their futures. We also hope that educators begin to reflect upon their own creative capabilities and continue to develop those skills. Education is always evolving and changing, especially now in the midst of the COVID-19 pandemic. It is creative educators like you that help to continue to improve the education system by thinking outside of the box when it comes to teaching and learning.
