Mental Health Learning Collaborative Seminars

The West Virginia Department of Education, through the ReClaimWV Initiative and in partnership with the Mental Health Technology Transfer Center (MHTTC), announces the second in a series of Mental Health Learning Collaborative Seminars. This second mental health training opportunity will focus on best practices for professional student support personnel and educators in identifying and providing interventions for students in need of social-emotional, and mental health supports as a result of substance use risk factors. This seminar will introduce SBIRT, the Screening, Brief Intervention, and Referral to Treatment, which is a comprehensive, integrated tool to assess risk factors for persons with substance use disorders, as well as those who are at risk of developing these disorders.  The seminar will also provide an introduction to Motivational Interviewing (MI), which is an evidenced-based intervention technique used to help individuals in the behavior change process. This training will be available to Kanawha County Schools personnel, with first priority to pilot school staff, and while the targeted audience is professional support personnel, it is open to all school personnel. This event is free; however, food and travel reimbursement are not provided. Seating is limited. For the date and registration information, please review the flyer attached. (Professional CEUs (4.0) have been approved for Licensed Professional Counselors, and currently pending approval for Psychologists and Nurses).
