Course participants may be teachers, administrators, counselors, school nurses, and individuals seeking paraprofessional certification who are currently employed in a public or non-public school in West Virginia. West Virginia residents who have held or hold West Virginia educator or school nurse certification may register and complete courses.

Notice: To complete an ECCAT course assignments there is a requirement that all ECCAT course participants be in the same pre-k or kindergarten classroom for a minimum of 4 hours per week during instructional time for each of the 13 weeks the ECCAT course is in session. ECCATs may enroll for one course per 13-week session.

All paraprofessionals must pass West Virginia State Competency Exam for Classroom Aides prior to registering for a course. All enrollees participating in eLearning courses must be pursuing West Virginia paraprofessional certification as a county school system employee and enroll for WVLearns paraprofessional courses.

Summer 2023 course information follows:

  1. Enrollment opens June 1, 2023.
  2. Enrollment closes July 1, 2023.
  3. Non-degree graduate credit forms and payment must be sent to Marshall University or Concord University no later than July 2, 2023.
  4. Individuals seeking Summer 2023 non-degree graduate credit must complete all coursework by July 20, 2023.
  5. Individuals completing coursework for a certificate of completion/certificate renewal must complete all coursework by August 1, 2023.

Courses will last 14 weeks. All courses have a one-week Orientation followed by 13 weeks of course content. Each session begins at 12:00 A.M. on Wednesday and each session ends at 11:59 P.M. on Tuesday. ECCAT courses are offered during Fall 2023 and Winter 2024. Individuals may enroll for one ECCAT course per session.

Participants should plan to spend a minimum of 6.5-7 hours of online/offline work per each week they are completing coursework.

Travel within North America, where Internet access is available, will not be a problem. Other countries may be blocked by our network and participants may not be able to access WVLearns from those countries.

Concord University (CU), and Marshall University (MU) provide non-degree graduate credit for the WV e-Learning for Educators courses.

All information regarding course credit registration and payment will become available on the opening day of the course session. Review the Important Information module for details.

  • The cost of 3-credit hours of non-degree graduate credit is $141 per course from MU and $99 from CU.
  • The cost of 2-credit hours of non-degree graduate credit is $66 per course from CU.
  • The cost of 1-credit hour of non-degree graduate credit is $3 per course/module from CU.

The Important Information Module will provide links to forms and instructions to be followed to be completed if you wish to apply for non-degree graduate credit. The course Important Information Module page will be available on the opening day of your workshop. If you desire non-degree graduate credit toward salary reclassification from MU or CU, it is your responsibility to inform the course facilitator, register for the course with MU or CU, pay for the course during the time frame allotted for registration and payment and apply for a transcript after successful completion of the course.

If you are seeking certificate renewal only, then the course Certificate on Completion will be accepted in lieu of a transcript from Marshall University(MU) or Concord University (CU). If you are seeking salary reclassification (plus hours), then a transcript from MU or CU is required.

If you are a non-West Virginia resident who is not employed or under contract with a WV school system, please contact Donna Landin at dlandin@k12.wv.us prior to establishing a CertPortal account and prior to registering for a course. There is a $200.00 registration fee per course for all non-West Virginia residents who are not employed or under contract with a WV school system. Course registration fees must be received prior to the opening day of a course session.

All WV e-Learning for Educators courses is delivered via the Internet. Course activity will occur online. Participants may access the course(s) and complete assignments at any time during the day or night.

A grade book is kept for all workshop sessions. Grades of C (Complete) and I (Incomplete) are awarded for each sessions based upon course participation and assignment completion. Non-degree graduate credit will be awarded to participants who complete all course requirements according to course expectations. Non-degree graduate credit will not be awarded twice for the same course. A certificate of completion will be awarded to all participants who complete all course requirements.
