Wellness Education

For middle and high school students, wellness education plays a critical role in physical, emotional, and social well-being. Learning how to make healthy lifestyle choices improves self-confidence, self-care and academic success.
West Virginia focuses on overall wellness, including what it means to be “well” and how to build life-long wellness habits. Wellness education includes health and physical education and physical activity, as well as developing self-responsibility, motivation, and excellence in learning for long-term wellness and disease prevention to improve overall quality of life.
