Authorization for Coaching, Athletic Training, Limited Sports Training

Authorizations for Coaching, Athletic Training, and Limited Sports Training are issued to individuals hired in these positions by a West Virginia public school system. This authorization expires on June 30th each year can be renewed annually. 

General Requirements

To apply, you must:

• Be a U.S. citizen or hold eligible documentation (see Policy 5202, Minimum Requirements for the Licensure of Professional/Paraprofessional Personnel and Advanced Salary Classifications, for complete requirements)
• Be employed in the West Virginia public school system
• Hold a high school diploma or equivalency
• Have completed West Virginia Secondary School Activities Commission-required courses
• Hold valid medical credentials if applying for limited sports training and athletic training authorization

Renewal 

To renew, you must:

• Have completed West Virginia Secondary School Activities Commission-required courses
