This fee reimbursement is only for teachers who are employed in the West Virginia public school system and hold, or are working to acquire, National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) Certification. This is allowable for initial board certification program enrollment, completion, extra expenses fees, and NBPTS program renewal fees.
Form 37 applications are accepted July 1 through June 15 each fiscal year and are processed on a first come, first served basis for limited funds.
Be a U.S. citizen or hold eligible documentation (see Policy 5202)
Hold a West Virginia professional certificate
Hold a West Virginia professional certificate for all reimbursements, and also NBPTS board certification for the extra expenses and renewal reimbursements.
Have the education level required by the West Virginia professional certification according to West Virginia State Code and Policy 5202
Complete training as required by the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards
Be an employee of the West Virginia public school system
Have recommendation from the county superintendent
