Submit a Professional Commitment verifying your enrollment, or intent to enroll, in the approved career and technical education educator preparation program
The Career and Technical Education Substitute Permit requires successful completion of qualifying substitute teacher training as described in Policy 5202.
Be employed within the West Virginia public school system.
Receive the recommendation of the employing county superintendent, education service cooperative, Multi-County Vocational Center Director, or the Superintendent of the West Virginia Schools of Diversion and Transition
There must be verification that you are the most qualified candidate for the position and you have been hired for the position. Recommendation from the designated official at the state-approved career technical education program is required for the First-Class Full Time Permit.
Renewal
The First Class Full Time Permit renewal is valid for one (1) year and the Substitute Permit renewal is valid for three (3) years. To apply, you must:
Have a 3.0 GPA for all coursework submitted for renewal
Have verification by the designated college or university program representative that you have completed six (6) semester hours of college/university credit reflecting a 3.0 GPA (on official transcripts) within the college or university's state-approved program for the First Class Full Time Permit.
