WVLearns eLearning Updates
Beginning July 1, 2026, the following changes will be implemented for WVDE WVLearns online professional eLearning courses. These updates are intended to provide greater structure, consistency, and instructional support for course participants.
Educators and Others (With the exception of Early Childhood Classroom Assistant Teacher (ECCAT))
Course Duration and Format
All courses will be facilitated by an instructor who will review assignments on a weekly basis. Participants must complete and meet posted requirements weekly. Only one revision will be accepted for each assignment. All attempts requiring revision must be submitted and accepted no later than one week after the course close date. Certificates of completion will be awarded if all requirements have been met during the session.
Fall, Winter and Spring courses will be 7 weeks in duration, allowing for multiple opportunities for enrollments throughout the calendar year. Participants may enroll in a maximum of two courses per session or a total of four courses per year.
Courses
Summer 2026 Session Details (4-week session)
- Enrollment Window: June 1-June 30, 2026
- Course Start Date: July 1, 2026
- Course End Date: July 28, 2026
- Non-Degree Graduate Credit Option: Fall 2026 Non-degree graduate credit will be available for courses for educators seeking salary reclassification. WVLearns courses will not be accepted for course credits toward a college/university degree.
- Enrollment Limits: Participants may enroll in a maximum of two courses per session or a total of four courses per year.
NOTE: Only two courses (6 credits) are needed to renew a teaching license.
Fall 2026 Session Details (7-week session)
- Enrollment Window: September 1-October 6, 2026
- Course Start Date: October 7, 2026
- Course End Date: November 24, 2026
- Non-Degree Graduate Credit Option: Fall 2026 Non-degree graduate credit will be available for selected courses for educators seeking salary reclassification. WVLearns courses will not be accepted for course credits toward a college/university degree.
- Enrollment Limits: Participants may enroll in a maximum of two courses per session or a total of four courses per year.

Winter 2027 Session Details
- Enrollment Window: October 10 – January 5, 2027
- Course Start Date: January 6, 2027
- Course End Date: February 23, 2027
- Non-Degree Graduate Credit Option: Spring 2027 Non-degree graduate credit will be available for selected courses for educators seeking salary reclassification. WVLearns courses will not be accepted for course credits toward a college/university degree.
- Enrollment Limits: Participants may enroll in a maximum of two courses per session or a total of four courses per year.

Spring 2027 Session Details
- Enrollment Window: January 10– March 2, 2027
- Course Start Date: March 3, 2027
- Course End Date: April 20, 2027
- Non-Degree Graduate Credit Option: Spring 2027 Non-degree graduate credit will be available for selected courses for educators seeking salary reclassification. WVLearns courses will not be accepted for course credits toward a college/university degree.

- Course Start Date: June 9, 2027

- Non-Degree Graduate Credit Option for K-12 Educator Courses: Fall 2027 Non-degree graduate credit will be available for selected courses for educators seeking salary reclassification. WVLearns courses will not be accepted for course credits toward a college/university degree.

Early Childhood Classroom Assistant Teacher (ECCAT)
Course Duration and Format
ECCAT courses will be 13 weeks in duration (except for Numeracy, which will run for 15 weeks). Participants are encouraged to enroll for one course per session. All requests for two courses per session will be pre-approved by WVDE.
All courses will be facilitated by an instructor who will review assignments on a weekly basis. School and county level support may be necessary.
Participants must complete and meet posted requirements weekly. All attempts requiring revision must be submitted and accepted no later than one week after the course close date. Certificates of completion being awarded after all requirements have been met.
Non-degree graduate credit will not be offered for ECCAT coursework.
Note: The Literacy-Science of Reading course will be revised to follow the format of the other ECCAT courses.

Winter-Spring II 2027 Session Details
- Enrollment Window: January 11– February 2, 2027
- Course Start Date: February 3, 2027
- Course End Date: May 4, 2027
