Developing numeracy and mathematical understanding and skills for 21st-century careers in a data driven world.

Mathematics provides the foundation for critical thinking and problem-solving in our everyday lives. Developing analytical and logical reasoning skills in middle and high school fosters students’ abilities to solve complex challenges in the real world.  

West Virginia’s mathematics standards provide extensive opportunities and experiences designed to prepare a student for success. These standards center around eight Mathematical Habits of Mind, which help students foster mathematical understanding and expertise to make sense of the world around them.
