The Office of School Facilities helps county school systems improve different areas of public education. This includes doing yearly reviews of school buildings built or renovated by the School Building Authority and providing training on HVAC systems. The office also reviews and approves each county board’s ten-year Comprehensive Education Facilities Plans (CEFP) and any updates from each county.

This office also oversees the following.

  • Sending school closure recommendations to state superintendent for State Board approval
  • Investigating indoor air quality complaints
  • Assisting with resolving environmental issues
  • Guidance on managing energy use
