Test Preparation Resources

While state-approved traditional educator preparation programs are designed to provide students with the basic skills, content and pedagogical knowledge necessary to meet testing requirements of the WV Licensure Testing Directory, there are a variety of additional supports available:

Praxis Tests at ETS.org

The Khan Academy offers free online test preparation for the pre-professional skills tests. Test takers may utilize preparation resources for content assessments which include a free study companion. When signing up for most Praxis exams, one may receive access to a practice test. There is also an optional Praxis Learning Paths platform available which currently covers a few of the assessments at a cost.

American Council on the Teaching of Foreign Languages (ACTFL)

Access the ACTFL website for information on WVBE-required content exams in areas of foreign languages.

Pearson Assessments

Access the edTPA website for information about Pearson’s teacher performance assessment.

All licensure pathways (traditional, county-based alternative, Option 3 and WVDE alternative certification) require that individuals meet testing requirements of the WV Licensure Testing Directory.
