Overview

Pre-K and Elementary Education

The STRIVE framework is a strategic approach adopted to assist districts with the alignment of state, local, and agency resources that promote student well-being and academic success. The goal is to ensure districts are fully aware of the extensive supports available, and to effectively coordinate these services with local resources. By doing so, we aim to enhance student outcomes in academics, behavior, and attendance while addressing their social-emotional needs.

WV Universal PreK Overview

  • Time: 8:40 a.m. - 9:40 a.m.
  • Speakers: Janet Bock-Hager, Coordinator, Academic Support; Lisa Fisher, Coordinator, Academic Support; Amber Myers, Coordinator, Academic Support
  • Description: Learn about best practices for WV Universal Pre-K, a nationally recognized early childhood program known for its statewide, mixed-delivery system, strong community partnerships, high-quality standards, and commitment to providing universal access to high-quality pre-k experiences for young children.

Elementary Behavior within WVTSS

  • Time: 9:50 a.m. - 10:50 a.m.

  • Description: Learn about best practices for selecting and implementing interventions, monitoring student progress, and collaborating with families and support personnel to address challenging student behavior.

ECCAT Support

  • Description: Learn about the new ECCAT coaches and support opportunities, including available training and the service request process.

  • Description: What do leaders need to know this year? Learn about where we’ve been with Third Grade Success Act, where we are, and where we are going. Time will be allotted for questions related to retention, exemptions, compliance, etc.

Third Grade Success Act Year 1 Full Implementation

  • Time: 1:00 p.m. - 2:15 p.m.
  • Speakers: Keisha Thompson, Coordinator, Academic Support; Jamela Krajeski, Coordinator, Academic Support
  • Description: Learn about the components of the Third Grade Success Act and what Full Implementation includes. Districts and schools will be given time for reflection and planning for next steps.

What does it mean to be TGSA-ready?

  • Time: 2:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m.
  • Speakers: Dr. Erika Klose, Director, Academic Support, Kelly Griffith, Manager Academic Support
  • Description: As conversations continue in the legislature, at the state level, in the public, and in our districts about what successful Third Grade Success Act implementation looks like, this session will give participants time to define readiness together. We will collaboratively identify practical criteria that can help schools and districts describe, measure, and recognize what it means to be Third Grade Success Act-ready. These discussions will inform potential state-level recognitions of successful schools and districts.
