Model United Nations
The Youth Leadership Association's Model United Nations program (ylaleads.org) offers West Virginia students a unique opportunity to engage with global issues and develop essential 21st-century skills. Open to students from all schools and communities across the state, this program provides participants with a "window on the world" experience in international relations and diplomacy.
Program Overview
Model United Nations challenges students to step into the role of international diplomats, representing different countries and working collaboratively to address real-world global issues. Participants research their assigned country's perspectives, engage in structured debates, form strategic alliances with other nations, and develop resolutions aimed at creating positive change in the world.
The program culminates in students presenting their resolutions to a General Assembly, where they engage in further debate and participate in formal voting procedures that mirror actual United Nations processes.
