About Us

The Office of Accountability monitors and implements the West Virginia System of Support and Accountability in accordance with WVBE Policy 2322.  Services coordinated by the Office of Accountability are based on the West Virginia Standards for Effective Schools and support continuous improvement.  The office supports schools and counties and encourages districts to become outcome-focused, innovative, and accountable learning organizations.   

A variety of data, including the WV Balanced Scorecard and WV Accountability System (WVAS) Efficiency Standards, are monitored and analyzed to identify relevant school and district improvement priorities and build the capacity for county operational effectiveness.  Additionally, the Office of Accountability annually recognizes schools and counties for student academic growth, school quality performance and growth through the WV Distinguished Schools Recognition Program, National Blue Ribbon Schools, WV Sustainable Schools, and National Green Ribbon Schools programs.

Accountability System (WVAS) Data Dashboard

The West Virginia Accountability System (WVAS) Data Dashboard offers interactive, county-level data reports on the County Operational Effectiveness Indicators of Efficiency and the Balanced Scorecard Student Performance and Success Indicators. Aggregate accountability data can be viewed, analyzed, and disaggregated in the State Performance Report (page 1 of 2).

The County Performance Report (page 2 of 2) is the comprehensive reporting location for each county on the 22 WVAS Indicators. This report offers the county’s % performance, the Balanced Scorecard’s target %, and the county’s designation for the 11 Balanced Scorecard Indicators. Also, data is available on the 11 Efficiency Indicators. The WVAS complies with WVBE Policy 2322.
