Adding an Endorsement by Reciprocity

General Requirements

To apply, you must:

• Hold a valid West Virginia professional certificate in an eligible endorsement area
  • Please note, eligible endorsements are dependent upon the type of certificate held. 
• Hold a valid Teaching, Student Support, or Administrative Certificate from another state reflecting an endorsement that does not currently appear on a valid West Virginia certificate 
  • This does not apply to the Career and Technical Education Certificate.
  • This provision excludes candidates who attempt to bypass West Virginia Board of Education policy by submitting a lower passing score from another state after failing to meet West Virginia’s required minimum on the same assessment.
• Have recommendation of the county superintendent
  • If you have not been employed by a county school system in the last 12 months, you must also submit Form 4B with your application.
