School health includes early detection, referral, prevention and management for optimal physiological, psychological and oral health for all students including those with chronic diseases and disabilities. It also provides supports, services, education and promotion of generalized wellness to maximize college and career readiness for lifetime professional and personal success. School health services include daily services and case management for the 1 in 4 or 25% of children with medical disabilities by a West Virginia certified school nurse (RN) working directly with students, parents, school personnel, health community providers and education professionals including LPNs to support the health and wellness needs of ALL students in West Virginia public schools.
