Morgantown High School Defends Championship Title Four Years in a Row

Morgantown High School (Monongalia County) was named the 2026 Academic Showdown Grand Champion today during the season finale at the West Virginia Culture Center in Charleston. This win marks their fourth consecutive championship title. Huntington High School (Cabell County) was named the runner-up.

Braxton County High School placed first, and Charleston Catholic High School placed second in the final regional competition of the 2026 Academic Showdown season at West Virginia State University.

The 2026 Academic Showdown Region 5 competition was hosted by the West Virginia Department of Education at Concord University and featured a day of fierce matchups with Bluefield High School winning first place.
