Renewal (Maintenance of Certification) National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS)

General Requirements

To apply, you must:

• Maintained certification from the National Board for Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS)
• Have a minimum of a bachelor’s degree
• Hold a valid West Virginia Professional Teaching Certificate
• Be an employee of the West Virginia public school system for the NBPTS state salary supplement
• Employment is not required for recognition only of NBPTS certification

NBPTS Recognition is valid up to 5 years as determined by the expiration date on the NBPTS certificate.
