The Standards-Based Individualized Education Program (SB-IEP) is a product of collaboration between a parent(s), student and educators who, through full and equal participation, identify the unique needs of a student with a disability or giftedness and plan the special education and related services to meet those needs.
In addition, the SB-IEP is a management tool that is used to ensure that each eligible student is provided special education and related services appropriate to the student’s special learning needs.
The West Virginia Department of Education uses a program in the WWV Education Information System (WVEIS) to facilitate the development of IEPs for West Virginia students in need of specially designed instruction to ensure that all students graduate from high school with a world-class education, PreK-12, who are college- and career-ready.
