WVDE is committed to ensuring students have a successful path forward after graduation through education, employment, or enlistment.
Qualified students may have the opportunity to gain both college and enlistment opportunities through the U.S. Military Service Academies and Reserve Officer Training Corps (ROTC) programs, or to enlist directly into the U.S. Armed Forces.
United States Military Service Academies
Admission requirements for attending most military academies require a Congressional or service-connected nomination. To learn about events being held in September of 2026 on military academy application processes and including admission representatives from five academies in attendance, you may visit Senator Shelley Moore Capito's website. You may also apply for a nomination by visiting Senator Jim Justice's website. The deadline for applications submitted through West Virginia’s U.S. Senators and other eligible nominating sources is Thursday, October 8, 2026.
