Every April, the Department of Defense Education Activity and school systems nationwide honor military-connected families by celebrating "Month of the Military Child," or "Purple Up Month." The color purple symbolizes military children across all branches as a combination of:
Along with our Common Ground partners, we designate a "Purple Up Day" that concludes a week full of spirit activities that show support for military families. If there are reasons a school cannot celebrate Spirit Week during the dates mentioned below, the school may select more convenient dates of their choosing during the month of April.
Spirit Week Celebrations
All schools are encouraged to participate in Spirit Week. Download the West Virginia Spirit Week Poster, display it in your school, and communicate with students, parents and guardians.
