Use this form if you are employed, but do not meet the requirements for a professional certificate, and are enrolled in a state-approved educator preparation program.

This permit allows someone who usually works full-time as a college or university instructor to teach K-12 students in a specific subject area, as long as they’re already part-time employees in K-12 and have been recommended by the county superintendent.

If you attended an in-state institution, this certificate allows you to work in the West Virginia public school system as a Principal, Supervisor, or Superintendent.

If you attended an out-of-state institution, this certificate allows you to work in the West Virginia public school system as a Principal, Supervisor, or Superintendent.

If you have a valid out-of-state professional administrative certificate, this certificate allows you to work in the West Virginia public school system as a Principal, Supervisor, or Superintendent.

Use this form if you are employed in the West Virginia public school system, but do not meet the requirements for a professional certificate and are enrolled in a state-approved alternative educator preparation program.

Use this form if you are employed on a first class/fill-time permit for a county but you do not meet the minimum grade point average requirement.

This permit may be issued to an individual who does not meet the requirements for the Professional Student Certificate issued for school counseling, speech-language pathologist, school psychologist, or attendance director but is enrolled in a state-approved educator preparation program and has been determined by the county superintendent to be the most qualified applicant for the position.

This permit may be issued to an individual who does not meet the requirements for the Professional Student Certificate issued for School nurse but is enrolled in a state-approved educator preparation program and has been determined by the county superintendent to be the most qualified applicant for the position.

This permit may be granted only one time to an individual who has been continuously employed for a specific assignment under a First-Class/Full-Time Permit and who has completed all course requirements of the approved program but has not attained the required passing scores on the Praxis content exams.

This form is used to apply for a West Virginia Teaching Certificate if you attended a regionally accredited out-of-state college or university's state approved teacher preparation program.
