Authorizations

Obtain an authorization for certain positions that don't require a certification.

Authorizations are issued to individuals hired or assigned to positions in the WV school system that don't require a certification, including:

  • Individuals with a specialization that doesn't require a professional or career and technical education certificate
  • Coaches
  • Athletic trainers

Candidate Requirements

General Requirements:

  • US Citizen or hold eligible documentation. View WVBE Policy 5202 for complete requirements
  • Employed by the WV public schools
  • Other requirements differ depending on your credential. Speak with your employer or review policy 5202 for more details.
