Ashley Wilkins
Ashley Wilkins is an eighth grade English language arts teacher at Petersburg High School in Grant County. She is a master of elevating student engagement through Socratic Seminars, where students participate in high-level discussions on their interpretations of classic literature. Wilkins is a pillar of her school community due to her dedication to students and their families, and her involvement on the Local School Improvement Council and as the junior class sponsor.
She earned her Bachelor of Arts in Secondary English Education and minor in Appalachian studies from Shepherd University in 2017, and a Master of Science in Curriculum and Instruction from West Governors University in 2019. In 2023, she earned a graduate certificate in English from Grand Canyon University and instructional leadership from West Virginia State University.
Janna Hamrick
Janna Hamrick is a fifth grade mathematics teacher at Rock Branch Elementary in Putnam County. Hamrick has a creative approach to education, which facilitates hands-on instruction and consistent interactions with students to monitor progress. She seeks to constantly humanize her classroom, building foundational teacher-student relationships that encourage her students to become solutions-driven critical thinkers.
Hamrick earned her Bachelor of Arts in Elementary Education K-6 and Master of Arts in Secondary Math Education 5-9 Algebra from Marshall University in 2008 and 2011 respectively.
