WVDE Social Media Terms of Use

In maintaining a positive experience for our page visitors, we reserve the right to remove photos, comments and other material deemed “unproductive” by the West Virginia Department of Education social media team. This includes, but is not limited to: vulgar, offensive or violent language; disturbing photos; angry or aggressive behavior toward fellow page visitors; hateful or discriminatory comments regarding race, ethnicity, religion, gender, disability, sexual orientation or political beliefs; links or comments containing sexually explicit content material; spam, link baiting or files containing viruses that could damage the operation of a network or individual’s computer(s) or mobile device; anything in violation of any intellectual property right of another; and harassment in the form of, but not limited to, repetitious text and/or photo comments, unfounded claims, and comments that are unrelated to a post. Special consideration will be given to posts containing children to ensure they are protected from harassment and confrontational comments.

The purpose of the West Virginia Department of Education’s (WVDE) social media pages is to facilitate an ongoing dialogue on education issues. We encourage your comments. Your ideas and concerns are important to help ensure that a broad range of West Virginians are active and informed participants in the discussion conducted on our social media pages. The WVDE reserves the right to modify this policy at any time, and expressly reserves the right to remove comments from its pages and block accounts that consistently violate our terms of use.

All comments on WVDE social media pages are reviewed and we retain the right to remove or not remove them and block any user that continually violates our terms of use policy with such comments. We also retain the right to immediately block accounts that post comments containing potentially harmful links or spam. We expect participants to treat each other, as well as our agency and our employees, with respect and dignity.
