In celebration of the 2nd annual West Virginia Girls in Aviation Day on Sept. 23rd, 2023, Oak Hill High School in Fayette County showcased the achievements of 58 young women enrolled in their advanced careers aerospace engineering program, spanning grades 9-12.
These talented students are piloting drones, mastering flight simulators, constructing miniature rockets, and operating remote-controlled planes and robots. They are becoming proficient in coding, computer-aided design (CAD), wiring, soldering, and operation of advanced equipment like wind tunnels and 3D printers.
