Greg Barringer is the carpentry instructor at Stepping Stones for WV Schools of Diversion and Transition. One of Barringer’s favorite things about teaching Career Technical Education (CTE) is seeing “the light come on” in his students’ eyes. He feels that CTE prepares students for the future and provides a solid foundation for future learning and success. Barringer served a four-year apprenticeship in the United Brotherhood of Carpenters and Joiners of America, which helped prepare him for a long-term career in commercial building construction. While the combination of classroom time with hands-on exercises resonated with him, he really enjoyed working under highly skilled carpenters who helped him reach a higher skill level.
