CHARLESTON, W.Va. – The West Virginia Board of Education’s (WVBE) committee on school finance and funding will reconvene at 9 a.m. on April 30 in Capitol Building 6, Room 353 (Board Conference Room), 1900 Kanawha Boulevard, East, Charleston, West Virginia to continue discussions surrounding education funding.

The committee will meet in its entirety at 9 a.m. and subsequently break out into two subcommittees.

The subcommittee on funding and state aid formula will engage in discussion surrounding the adequacy and effectiveness of education funding measures in West Virginia, including but not limited to the WVBE’s finance recommendations, the funding proposals included in the House and Senate versions of SB451 and other innovative funding measures, opportunities and flexibilities to better meet the needs of students and school systems.

The subcommittee on statutes and policy will engage in discussion surrounding the time and resources required to adhere to legislative, WVBE and county requirements placed on districts, schools and educators including, but not limited to accountability measures for all West Virginia schools, school calendar requirements and required courses of instruction by code and policy.
