Since 1998, Barb Laugh has spent twenty-three years working in early education. As a Preschool Special Needs teacher in Ritchie County, she has enjoyed having a hand in shaping our very youngest minds.
“My favorite part of teaching preschool is that I get to experience things with my students for the first time. I love that every day brings about new developments. My students definitely keep me on my toes, but I am fortunate to work with happy, smiling children who love coming to school each day.”
Mrs. Laugh was named Ritchie County Teacher of the Year in 2015-2016 and has been a National Board Certified Teacher since 2017. She feels strongly about the teaching profession and is especially enthusiastic about the educators in West Virginia.
“The fact that West Virginia educators have a strong passion for teaching and convey that passion to their students is why our education system is so successful. They motivate their students to not only learn but also teach them how to learn. They are dedicated, loving, nurturing, and go above and beyond to meet the needs of their students every day.”
When she isn’t teaching, Mrs. Laugh enjoys spending time with her husband, Dr. Allen Laugh Jr., who is the Assistant Superintendent of Taylor County Schools. Dr. and Mrs. Laugh also have two children, both who are pursuing careers in the Education sector.
