Alissa Davis is a West Virginia finalist in the United States Senate Youth Program (USSYP). She is a senior at Spring Valley High School and plans to attend college to study law or optometry.

Davis has desired to become part of the USSYP for two years. She is motivated by the prospect of meeting those who represent the nation and learning among those with similar ambitions and passions. Presently, Davis holds the following leadership position:

  • Secretary, National Honor Society (2022-23)

All finalists were asked why they should be chosen to represent West Virginia.

“Throughout my life, I have highly valued my knowledge of history and government. As an eighth grader, I was awarded the West Virginia Golden Horseshoe for my knowledge of West Virginia history,” said Davis. “Currently, I am taking AP Government and would really enjoy learning directly from our leaders about how evolving laws shape our evolving nation. I consider this opportunity to be transformative and life-changing. Our unique experiences of today mold us into the leaders of tomorrow.

Davis enjoys reading, writing, volunteering and playing tennis.
