Description: This session will provide an overview of the STEPS Program which is a prereferral consultation and intervention system of supports for students with mild speech and language disorders. Also, it is a post dismissal program that supports monitoring and “tune-ups” for students who have been in speech therapy and need to be followed for generalization. The session will cover the benefits, documentation, ethical considerations and allow plenty of time for questions.

Learning to Read Remotely: Phonological Awareness and Phonics Instruction (Pre- K-2)

Description: Learning to read and teaching reading are difficult tasks under normal circumstances. However, it is even more complicated when partnered with remote learning. In this session, educators will learn how to provide students with both synchronous and asynchronous phonological awareness and phonics learning opportunities that engage students in a remote setting. Educators will learn how to incorporate interactive phonological awareness and phonics games during synchronous learning opportunities. Educators will also become familiar with how they can establish themselves as curators and interactive designers of asynchronous learning.

Three-to-One Model of Service Delivery for Related Service Providers – COVID-19 Scheduling Survival

Description: This session will detail the 3:1 Model and how it could be used by related service providers to allow flexibility during times of remote learning and brick and mortar school attendance to provide services using an evidence-based format. Not all students would benefit from this model, so the session will include a description of students who might. The discussion will provide strategies that support collaboration with the classroom teacher with visual examples available. Documentation of 3:1 Model use for the Monitoring Team from the Office of Federal Programs will be delineated. Participants will be left with another scheduling option to consider for students or for whom it would be applicable.

Creating Light-Up Sensory Gel Pads for Students

Description: A Do-It-Yourself session (DIY) for educators, related service personnel, and families for meeting the sensory needs of children. This has become a priority when providing quality education and therapy services. Sensory needs often prevent children from fully focusing on the tasks in front of them. Sometimes something as simple as a fidget or weighted lap pad can make a significant difference. This session will provide participants the opportunity to create a gel pad that lights up, providing both tactile and visual stimulation. The activity demonstrates how an individual can take everyday things and turn them into tools for our children.

Promoting Proficiency in the World Language Classroom
